The Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC) announced that its recently selected 2018–2019 officers will focus on the professional development of case managers and disability specialists.

The 16-member board is comprised of volunteers with Jeannie LeDoux, RN, BSN, MBA, CCM, CPHQ, CTT+, serving as chair. The officers are committed to ensuring case managers and disability specialists have opportunities for professional development through education and certification, according to a CCMC press release

While case managers typically work for hospitals, health plans, and long-term care facilities, disability management specialists often work for employers or workers’ compensation organizations to help disabled or injured staff remain at or return to work.

The officers represent a range of experience, aligning with CCMC’s goal of ensuring a diverse case management workforce to meet the needs of a diverse patient population. Over the next year, CCMC will work to expand its tools and resources for case managers and disability managers. CCMC offers both the Certified Case Manager® (CCM®) and Certified Disability Management Specialist® (CDMS®) credentials.
