The American Case Management Association (ACMA) announced November 6 that it has established the Association of Physician Leadership in Care Management (APLCM) to help reach physician leaders who are in roles that support case management.

Physicians, case managers, social workers, and nurses collaborate frequently to deliver care to patients. This collaboration is critical to ensuring patients have positive outcomes and resources are properly used, according to an ACMA press release. ACMA believes that for case managers to deliver quality, affordable healthcare, they must have knowledge of several clinical disciplines.

APLCM is geared toward physicians involved in care delivery models who work closely with case managers as executives or physician advisors. The association is made possible through ACMA resources and financial support. The APLCM Founding Board includes six physician leaders who value multidisciplinary collaboration and wish to be involved in developing resources that will benefit the physician care management community, according to the ACMA.
