Q&A: Community transportation service

Q: If we use a community transportation service for wheel chair transport, is the facility responsible?
A: If the wheelchair transportation is not considered an ambulance, then the SNF would not be responsible for it. If you’re going to pass that cost along to the family, it’s a good idea to have that in your contract and your admissions packet, informing the family member and resident how much they would be charged if they were to use the service to avoid confusion later.
