2019 OPPS proposed rule: CMS introduces three new C-APCs
CMS did not propose any new comprehensive APCs (C-APC) last year, taking a rare year off, but it did introduced three new C-APCs in the 2019 OPPS proposed rule, released in late July.
The new C-APCs are:
- C-APC 5163, Level 3 Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Procedures
- C-APC 5183, Level 3 Vascular Procedures
- C-APC 5184, Level 4 Vascular Procedures
C-APC 5163 would create a lower-level C-APC to join the Level 4 (C-APC 4164) and Level 5 ENT Procedures (C-APC 5165). C-APCs 5183 and 5184 would become the first two C-APCs in the Vascular Procedures clinical family (VASCX).
For a complete list of C-APCs, see Addendum J of the proposed rule, which also includes the list of related complexity adjustments and other payment information.
