CMS introduces online course on Merit-based Incentive Payment System Alternative Payment Models
CMS now offers an elearning opportunity on the Quality Payment Program (QPP) through the MLN Learning Management System. This course is the fifth in a growing curriculum on the QPP and will offer 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
The program will focus on the Merit-based Incentive Payment System’s (MIPS) Alternative Payment Models (APM) and will cover information on the following topics:
- Benefits of special APM scoring standards for MIPS APM participants
- Criteria for reporting on performance
- How to recognize who is a participant in a MIPS APM
MIPS APMs are subject to the APM scoring standard for QPP-related activities. The weighted scores for MIPS APMs are different from the traditional scoring system for the MIPS performance categories to account for activities already required by the APM. MIPS clinicians participating in MIPS APMs do not need to submit quality and improvement activity performance category data beyond what they are already required to report as part of the APM.
Anyone interested in enrolling in the CMS course will need to create an MLN Learning Management System account by registering here. Credits for the course expire August 1, 2020.
The QPP final rule is expected to be released by November 1. Information on policies introduced in the QPP proposed rule is available here.
