Additional extension of the payment adjustment for FY 2014
 
On June 16, CMS posted a notice in the Federal Register stating that the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 extended the payment adjustment for low-volume hospitals and the Medicare-Dependent Hospital Program under the IPPS for acute care hospitals for the second half of FY 2014. The provisions described in this document are applicable for discharges on or after April 1, 2014 and on or before September 30, 2014.

June performance data for the senior Medicare patrol projects
 
On June 16, OIG posted a notice on their website detailing their continued collection of performance data for the senior Medicare patrol projects to support its efforts to evaluate and improve their performance. OIG currently reports this performance data on an annual basis.

CMS seeks input regarding supervision during the administration of chemotherapy agents
 
CMS had previously asked for comments regarding the level of supervision necessary during chemotherapy administration. In response to comments received, it is now seeking advice on the specific question of whether the supervision level should be direct for the initial administration (first administration in a series of administrations of the same drug) followed by general for subsequent administrations of the same drug.
